Aly Friesen and her Champion Cow/Calf pair

Spring Break has been rather quiet for most Wildcat organizations except for FFA. As usual, several students and their families have spent the week in OKC at the Oklahoma Youth Expo. With all showing complete, here is a run down of Arnett’s agricultural successes. Of the 30 hogs exhibited 10 made it up the hill to the big ring with the following placings:

MaKale Hamil - 10th place Berk Gilt

Carlie Dowler - 6th place Hamp Barrow

MaKenzi Hamil - 11th place Hamp Barrow

Trenten Haney - 8th place Dark Cross

Aly Friesen was our only cattle exhibitor, and this senior went out with a bang. Her Champion Angus Heifer Cow/Calf pair was named Supreme Purebred at OYE. Aly received 2 scholarships in the Supreme Drive - 1 for Champion and 1 for Supreme overall. Miss Friesen also exhibited the 4th Overall Simmental Steer making the sale lineup. She was also presented the OERB People of Oklahoma Oil & Natural Gas Scholarship for $1,000.

Arnett 4H & FFA had some individuals showing off their talents as well. Jadyn Dowler participated in junior showmanship class while MaKale Hamil and MaKenzi Hamil got behind the lens as AG Youth photographers. Emma Knowles was also asked to sing the National Anthem multiple times throughout the week and to lead the morning worship music.

In other Wildcat news, the high school softball team traveled to Hobart on Tuesday. They took a loss to Lookeba-Sickles in frigid temperatures before snow canceled the rest of the festival.
