Warmer weather, prom dresses, test prep and awards are just some of the signs that the school year is in its last stretch. The Arnett Wildcats have been busy with all that Spring brings.
After receiving 1st place in the Psi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma 7th Grade Essay Contest, Whitley Toy Stewart's essay went on to compete at the State Level. Toy is one of two 7th Grade State Winners with her essay "To Them All" over the topic "What is one thing you wish your parents, teachers, or coaches really understood or knew about you?" Toy will be honored and recognized in Oklahoma City this summer. Congratulations, Toy!

4th grade science has been learning about the human body systems. They made their own digestive system including the organs inside. They worked together and used different colored yarn to measure out the intestines.
This week 4th graders also dissected chicken wings to see how our skin is connected to our muscular system and skeletal system as demonstrated by Aaliyah White Eagle and Audia McIntire.
5th grade science has been studying ecosystems and the different biotic and abiotic parts that interact in them. This past week Noah Holman, Leilani Daniels, Jozie Latta, Carlie Dowler, Alex Strick and Sabe Williams (L to R) made a small model of an ecosystem and also built their own terrarium to observe how an ecosystem can sustain itself.
Freshman Physical Science students Abbie Boyd, Martin Sanchez, Breclyn Suthers and Trenton Haney experimented with desalinization by distillation this week in the high school science lab.
In the world of Wildcat Sports, on Monday the HS Softball team played Shattuck. They fell to the Indians 34-20 after 6 innings of impressive hitting by both teams. Tuesday, both the JH & HS softball teams traveled to Cheyenne where the Varsity club won 11-2 and the JH lost 3-12. The HS baseball boys stayed home for a three-way where the Wildcats got the 7-6 win against Eric but took a 5-18 loss against Lomega. The Arnett JH Festival brought several teams to town on Thursday for a full day of slow-pitch softball. The 6th-8th grade girls lost to two Mooreland teams, by 6-7 in the first round and 7-14 in the second. Thursday afternoon the HS boys traveled to Buffalo where they lost a close one 11-12. The HS girls hosted Fargo-Gage in an off-schedule pick-up game on Friday and came away with the 26-2 win.
Arnett students spent the afternoon on Wednesday in Shattuck at the Career Fair. There were over 40 volunteers who spent their time speaking with our students about their careers. We are very thankful for each and every one of them.
The Arnett 5th & 6th Grade Choir competed at the Seiling Music Festival on Friday, March 31st, receiving a Superior rating for their performance. The kids sang The Ghostly Wagon Train and Under Winter Moon for three judges and received many wonderful comments about their musicality and tone quality. The choir will sing at the Arts Concert on April 25 at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium and will also compete at the Tri-State Music Festival in Enid the first week of May. Congratulations to this great group of kids!

April kicked off with Prom on Saturday night for the Arnett High School students. The Juniors have spent all week making decorations to bring their “Feathers and Fantasies'' theme to life. The week of April 3rd-7th is National FFA week. Look for coloring contests throughout the elementary, a petting zoo on Wednesday and various FFA activities throughout the week.
