The last week of August started with a Back to School Bash for 7th-12th graders, staff, and their families. On Sunday, August 27, seventy-five students and school families traveled to Grand for an afternoon of swimming, hot dogs, and s’mores. Arnett New Holland donated the hot dogs, buns, and chips. Grand Economy provided drinks, coolers, and cups, while Day County Services donated the makings for s’mores. We are very thankful for the supportive businesses in Arnett. Students had a wonderful time going off the rope swing, jumping off the dock, kayaking, paddle boating, playing football, and just floating around. A big thank you also goes out to Connie Shoaf, Rexie Holloway, and Louie Holloway for allowing the students to have such a memorable time on their property.
The Arnett Beta Club hosted a Blood Drive this past Wednesday. Beta members volunteered at the sign-in table while teachers, high school students, and community members donated blood. Thirty-four people signed in with 27 being able to donate. This blood drive had a goal of 28 donations so it was a successful drive.
Mr. Johnston and the Arnett FFA members hosted a community ice cream social on Wednesday, August 30th. There were games to play for the kids and the older students and adults. Community members enjoyed walking around the ag shop and seeing all the projects that students are working on. And of course, there was lots of delicious homemade ice cream made by parents/grandparents and Mrs. McCracken’s high school Home Ec. Class.
Arnett Schools is proud to partner with Shattuck Sonic who hosts Wildcat Wednesdays. This means that every Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM 15% of all Shattuck Sonic sales will be donated to Arnett Schools. Those funds are used to pay for certain school field trips so that students/families aren’t out that money. Shattuck Sonic also sponsors our Students of the Month. Students of the month are recognized for displaying kindness, a helping hand, responsibility, and good attitudes and character. The August students of the month were: Lane Mann-PK, Milly Jones-K, Beau Bryant-2nd, Kindrey Gaisford-3rd, and James Boyd-4th. Students received a t-shirt, cup, and $5 Sonic bucks to Shattuck Sonic.
