The Arnett BETA Club hosted the annual Fall with Friends on Tuesday, October 10. Students started the day by going through the cafeteria breakfast line and enjoying delicious chocolate doughnuts and fruit. While in the cafeteria students were paired with their “family.” Each family consisted of 4-5 students. One high school student, one junior high student, one middle school student, and one or two elementary students. Students sang the school song, did the flag salutes, and then enjoyed all kinds of games and activities set up by the BETA Club. Each station and activity was supervised and run by the faculty and staff. Everyone in the school participated in some way. Superintendent Scot Friesen even got in on the fun helping with activities. Jena Burcham said, “There were 37 adults who helped make this morning happen! Whether, it was making/serving breakfast, helping with games, taking pictures, and all the other big and little things, we sure are blessed with a school that wants to be involved for the kids.”
Mrs. Ham’s fifth-grade Science class has been studying the properties of matter. On Tuesday students mixed concrete and learned how to make stepping stones. They are using the stepping stones in an area of the school that needs a little bit of attention.
Mrs. Wheeler’s social studies class is learning about the early settlements of America. This past week they studied the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Students had to become detectives and try to solve the mystery, and hopefully bring closure to the families of the lost colonists. At the end of their detective work, they had to share their findings.
Parent/Teacher Conferences were held Monday and Tuesday nights from 3:15-7:30 p.m. The Arnett faculty would like to give a big thank you to the SWAT team for providing meals.
