Thursday was the start of the Area Basketball Tournament. Our Lady Wildcats traveled to Enid to take on the Leedey Lady Bison for the 4th time this year. The first two games this year Arnett won. The 3rd game Leedey won. We knew this was going to be a battle down until the last few seconds. Our girls hit a slump in the 4th quarter of the game and were down more than 10 points, but our girls kept battling. They fought hard to come back and take the lead by 3. With 16 seconds left in the game, Leedey hit a 3 pointer to tie the game back up. Landry Bayless ended up pushing the ball up the floor and driving in to hit a layup with 6.5 seconds left. The Lady Wildcats finished the game on top 46-44, advancing them to the second round of Area Friday afternoon in Enid.
Friday the Lady Wildcats traveled back to Enid to take on Kremlin-Hillsdale in another nail biter. The Lady Wildcats battled hard the whole game and ended up coming out on top 56-50.
Saturday the Lady Wildcats traveled back to Enid and met back up with Frontier. The girls came out ready to seek revenge after losing to them in the regional finals. The first half of the game was back and forth until the buzzer went off for half time. The 2nd half of the ball game, the Lady Wildcats walked out with a fire lit. The girls pulled ahead and came out with a big win, 65-42! The girls punched their ticket to state! They will play Wednesday at 1:30 vs Lookeba-Sickles in the Big House. Come out to support our Lady Wildcats!
This week's Farmer's and Merchant's Bank "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to Katie Girton. Katie's teacher's had this to say about her: "She is extremely talented in all areas. She is always willing to help others regardless of their abilities. She maintains a positive attitude. She is academically and musically gifted. She is new to Arnett Schools and has had to learn to embrace the changes with a smile on her face." Congratulations, Katie!
In class the past few weeks, the 2nd graders have been working hard on their math fact fluency. They celebrated this week with popcorn, pop, and play for reaching their fact fluency goals!
