The weeks are quickly flying by and the countdown is on!

This week's Farmers and Merchants Bank "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to Miss Bella Booth. Bella's teacher's had this to say about her: "Bella is a very intelligent and creative individual. She comes to class eager to learn, she has great ideas herself, and she is able to think outside the box. Bella is very talented artistically, she is a creative and descriptive writer, and she is very detail oriented when it comes to doing projects. We appreciate Bella using her talents and intellect for our school and look forward to watching her succeed." Congratulations, Bella!

The little kids PE class have been competing against one another in the jump rope ninja challenge all year. The black belt is the highest level they can achieve and it requires 100 consecutive jump ropes without failure. Today, Tiegan Dearing not only achieved that, but had 157 ! Congrats Tiegan, and thank you Mrs. Wheeler for the cool idea!

The 1st-6th graders have also been preparing for the Ellis Co. Track meet. They have been competing and practicing during their PE class. The Ellis Co. Track meet will be held in Shattuck at the football field Tues., May 7 beginning at 12:30pm. Please come out and support our students who are participating!

Monday afternoon was senior night for the HS softball team. They honored three seniors this season, Alyssa Smith, Talara Brown, and Brianna Marenco. We will definitely miss these girls next year! After honoring our seniors, the softball team took on Arapaho-Butler. In the first inning, Arapaho jumped out into the lead starting off the inning and set the pace for the game. The Lady Wildcats ended up losing 7-21.

Tuesday evening was the Spring Arts Show. Almost every class from pre-k and up had artwork on display for the public to view. The 7th-9th grade band and Randall Burton performed pieces for the audience, and then some of the 7th-8th graders performed a percussion ensemble.
After they finished, the speech regional qualifiers performed their acts they have been working on. Mr. Royal's Computer Applications class also presented their media video they created for a recap of the year.

Tuesday evening was also the monthly board meeting. We want to give a warm welcome to Coach Drew Miller. He will be taking over boys basketball, along with a possibility of teaching, P.E., Drivers Ed and some History. Welcome! We are happy to have you and your family at Arnett Public Schools!

Wednesday was Administrative Professionals' Day, and we have four wonderful secretaries that take care of us and keep us in line every single day at Arnett Public Schools. We couldn't do our jobs without them. To show our gratitude, staff members cooked breakfast and provided some goodies for each secretary.
Thank you Jackie, Kelsi, Melisa, and Remick!! We appreciate all you do!!

This is the first season in 11 years our boys have made it to a Regional Tournament. 5 of those 11 years Arnett had to co-op with other schools just to have a team. These past three years, especially, have been dedicated to restoring, improving, and building a home team and program. These boys and coaches have worked very hard. They've been beaten a lot but never gave up! Wednesday, the Arnett boys traveled to Tupelo for the Regional Tournament. They faced off with Tupelo in the first game of the tournament. After giving Tupelo a great first three innings, Arnett eventually fell to #3 Tupelo 4-14. The Wildcats then played #18 Blair in the second game Wednesday evening. Arnett battled with them, but fell short 4-7 ending their season.

Arnett Junior, Harley Shoaf, placed 5th out of 70 golfers in the OSSAA CLASS 2A Girls Golf West Regional, qualifying her for the 2024 State Golf Championship to be held April 29-30 at Prairie West Golf Course in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Good luck at State, Harley!

The Arnett HS softball team traveled to Leedey Thursday morning for the Regional Tournament. They played Lookeba Sickles in the first game. Arnett started off the first inning strong but Lookeba battled back in the 4th inning and battled to the bottom of the 7th. Arnett ended up pulling out the win 12-11. Arnett turned around and had to play Leedey in their second game of regionals and lost 7-19. After losing to Leedey, the Lady Wildcats had to play Lookeba-Sickles a second time. Our girls scored quick in the top of the first inning, but Lookeba came in with their bats hot. The Lady Wildcats ended up losing 9-3 to end their season.

The countdown to graduation continues! This week's "Senior Spotlight" features Mr. Ryan Elder. Congratulations, Ryan!
