The last days of school were filled to the brim with exciting projects so there are still many activities and accolades to highlight.
This school year, two students reached their goals of reading all fifteen Sequoyah books. Each year, students are challenged to read all of the books from the Children's Sequoyah master list. The books this year included science fiction, historical fiction, realistic fiction, and drama. 6th graders, Sabe Williams and Jozie Latta, were awarded with a trip for reading and passing AR tests on all fifteen books. They traveled to Tulsa and got to experience the Oklahoma Aquarium, The Gathering Place, and they got to eat at a fun diner called Mad Eats in Owasso. Jozie and Sabe both agreed that their favorite book from the list this year was The Last Mapmaker written
by Christina Soontornvat.
Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. Shoaf Jozie Latta, and Sabe Williams visited the Oklahoma Aquarium as a reward trip for Jozie and Sabe reading all 15 Sequoyah books.

The 5th grade science class completed a science project dealing with properties that also was a school improvement project. They improved the west parking lot by the elementary teacher parking. Prior to the project, it was an empty flower bed that usually was muddy and filled with weeds that wouldn’t die. They pulled weeds, leveled dirt, and poured their own cement stepping stones to add to the flower bed and walk way. After setting their stones, the 5th graders poured and leveled rock and then painted the tops of their stepping stones.

The Jr. & Sr. Beta Clubs will participate in the National Beta Convention June 10-19. Some students will compete onsite in Savannah, GA, while others take the opportunity to enter their events virtually. Jasmine Smith submitted her poetry entry virtually during the last week of school. She had to place in the Top 3 at the State Beta Convention in March to qualify for Nationals.
The Kiwanis Club was very generous to provide the Sr. Beta Club with pizza during the last week of school. The Beta Club looks up to the Kiwanis Club for their community service and generosity and is always proud to serve alongside them.
Every year on the last professional work day for teachers, Arnett Mason Scott Vincent and his wife Nancy volunteer their time to cook steaks for the staff. This year, their grandkids Trenten Haney and Brooklyn Vincent helped out as well. The Arnett Masons have generously donated monetarily to our school and organizations on many occasions. We are very grateful for their selfless support and service.
Though school has been dismissed for a couple weeks, graduating seniors have still been actively representing AHS in various ways through their sports achievements and recognitions. Arnett was well-represented in the K101 Classic Bowl Games, as well as, other all-star games.
