The 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year for Arnett Public Schools is Mr. Ross Royal. Mr. Royal has taught at Arnett High School for the past three years, where he teaches Computer Applications & Business classes and Elementary & High School Physical Education classes. Coach Royal also serves as an assistant coach for slow pitch & fast pitch softball and girls’ & boys’ basketball, is the A-Town TV media team sponsor, drives a daily bus route along with being the bus driver for many extracurricular activities, works as part of the summer maintenance crew, and facilitates Summer Pride for the junior high and high school athletic students.
Ross graduated from Arnett High School in 2010 and then continued his education at UCO and NWOSU. After working for business and financial institutions such as Citizens Bank of Edmond, Bank of America, Farmers & Merchants Bank, and Day County Services, Ross accepted the position at Arnett Schools to teach computer applications, personal finance, and media classes. Mr. Royal has been able to incorporate important life and business skills from the workforce into his classroom teachings.
Ross is married to Emily, and they have three daughters: Spencer, 3rd grade; Sterling, 2nd grade; and Scarlett, Kindergarten. Emily works for Ellis County in the Court Clerk’s Office and also serves as the Arnett JH/HS Cheerleading Sponsor, as well as, serving on the Arnett Town Board.
Coach Royal is known for being a positive and motivating teacher and coach. Students look to him for the encouragement they need on a daily basis. Mr. Royal is a role model to students and teachers with his leadership, service, and positive attitude.
Mr. Royal is a committed leader who is dedicated to serving his students and Arnett Public Schools. Because of his all-in approach to life and his teaching position, Mr. Royal has been named the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year for Arnett.
