The hallways at Arnett Public Schools may not have been bustling with students and backpacks all summer, but the corridors were not quiet and empty either. Every summer, the maintenance and custodial staff at Arnett perform annual upkeep during the summer break to keep the facilities in top notch condition.
Rick Morrissette, DeLyn Morrissette, Maria Flores, Ashli Richardson, and Kristi Haney have been busy painting, cleaning, moving furniture, and making repairs so that the buildings are ready for students in August. All desks, tables, and other materials were moved out of every single classroom so that carpets could be shampooed and extracted. Tile floors were waxed, windows were washed, desks were cleaned, air filters were replaced, fresh coats of paint were added where needed, and repairs were made.
The staff painted the workrooms and storage rooms, along with the guard rails for the student parking lot and the trophy ball outside the gymnasium. New garage doors were installed at the indoor pool and ag barn. The press box at the baseball field had termite damage so it is receiving a facelift with new metal and new windows.
Ross Royal, Drew Miller, Brianna Marenco, Harley Shoaf, Cadie McCracken, Allie Tune and Zanston Clark have also been diligently working to spruce up our school facilities. They have been cleaning and organizing shop & building spaces, detailing school vehicles & buses, polishing furniture, and deep cleaning areas that are hard to get to when school is in session. With the help of Ellis County District #3 bringing in dirt to fill in holes, they packed in that dirt around the playground and other areas of the school where the ground was uneven. They also took out the backstop at the baseball field, which will be replaced with brick. Another thank you goes out to our County employees for helping with the baseball dugouts, which are getting a facelift as well. These employees did so much more than mentioned above, working hard all summer doing the big and little things to make our school ready for students and teachers in August.
Ashli Richardson and Kristi Haney move furniture out of the cafeteria so they can wax the floors.
Cadie McCracken, Harley Shoaf, and Brianna Marenco, summer staff at the school, wash and detail the school vehicles.
