The first day of school for Arnett Public Schools was Thursday, August 15. Going back to school always has a certain level of excitement for teachers and students. Teachers have rearranged and redecorated their classrooms, studied new curriculum, attended professional development, and spent hours at the school before August even rolled around preparing for the upcoming school year. Different facilities and areas of the school have received a facelift, some faculty have changed job titles, and a few new teachers and personnel have been added to the Arnett staff. We are looking forward to a wonderful year with our students, staff, and community at Arnett Schools.

Teachers and staff officially reported to school on August 12th for inservice. Teachers traveled to Oklahoma City where they participated in a team-building event at TopGolf that focused on collaboration, flexibility, and strengths of team members. They also heard from Kelly Barnes, a motivational speaker, who entertained, inspired, and equipped teachers with the right tools to create “Great Moments More Often”.  Also during inservice, teachers and staff met with administration, and received all of their state required professional development, which included CPR, First Aid, and AED training from Ellis County EMS. A big thank you goes out to the Arnett Church of Christ for providing breakfast on Tuesday & Wednesday, ASAP in Arnett for lunch on Tuesday, and the Arnett United Methodist women for lunch on Wednesday.

“Meet the Teacher” was held Wednesday evening before school began. PK-6th grade students had the opportunity to bring their school supplies to their classrooms and meet their teachers. Incoming 7th graders had a “Sneak Peek” to junior high where they received their lockers and class schedules.

The first two days of school were filled with fun projects, lots of pictures, rules and procedures, and extracurricular meetings.  We are looking forward to a successful 2024-2025 year at Arnett!

The Arnett Masonic Lodge presented a $5,000 check to Arnett Public Schools to be split between the Arnett FFA Chapter and the Arnett TSA Chapter. John Logan, Executive Director of the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, traveled to Arnett to assist Scott Vincent, Secretary, and Sage Vincent, Worshipful Master of the St. Alban Lodge #192 in presenting the generous donation to FFA Advisor, Chris Johnston, and TSA Advisor, Kaleb McDonald. Arnett Schools is very appreciative of the continuous support and generosity from the Masons.
