Amazing Race Winners

This past weekend, the small town of Arnett was alive with energy as students participated in a variety of exciting activities during the Ranch Rodeo festivities. From fun runs to pancake breakfasts, the community came together to celebrate in style.

The weekend kicked off on Saturday morning with the 2nd Annual Ranch Rodeo 5K, organized by the Arnett Media team. Participants of all ages laced up their running shoes to support the event, setting a vibrant tone for the day.

The Arnett Baseball teams hosted a pancake breakfast at the Christian Church, drawing in hungry families and supporters. The smell of fresh pancakes wafted through the air, as community members gathered to enjoy a hearty meal while supporting the baseball team before diving into the day’s festivities.

Adding to the excitement, the Arnett Robotics Club put on the thrilling Amazing Race, a challenging three-mile course filled with quirky tasks. Teams competed in activities such as eating unusual foods, navigating sack races, fishing for matching pictures out of a muddy swimming pool, and tossing objects through a hanging tire. Laughter and friendly competition were the order of the day.

The Arnett Beta Club transformed the courthouse lawn into a playground for younger children. With games like balloon darts, a human slot machine, ring toss, hula hoop toss, and stick horse races, the Beta Club ensured there was no shortage of fun. They also hosted a cornhole tournament, adding to the lively atmosphere.

As the day progressed, many students proudly rode horses and floats in the parade, showcasing their school spirit and community pride.

On Friday, October 3rd, the excitement continued as elementary students took a trip to witness a portion of the play “The Addams Family.” Directed by teachers Mrs. Broyles (conductor)  and Mrs. Knowles (staging co-conductor), the students were thrilled to see them shine on stage.

In sports, the Arnett Lady Wildcats traveled to Caney for the regional softball tournament. They started strong, defeating Leflore 18-0 in their opening game. However, they faced a setback in their second match against Caney, falling 5-3. Undeterred, the Lady Wildcats rallied back, dominating Achille 20-4 in their next game on Friday. In the second game on Friday, the Lady Wildcats took control of the game early and beat Caney 10-0. Since the Lady Wildcats were coming from the bottom side of the bracket they had to beat Caney one more time to make it to the state tournament. Unfortunately, Caney came out on top in the final game 4-2.
