This week, the Wildcats were excited as they wrapped up the first nine weeks before Fall Break.
The school united for "Fall with Friends." Students gathered in mixed-age groups across various classrooms to create colorful signs cheering on their peers for the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run held later that morning. Each group included a student from high school, junior high, middle school, and elementary, fostering camaraderie across grades.
Organized by the Arnett Beta Club, this marks the third year of "Fall with Friends," which continues to enhance the sense of community within the school.
The Wildcat Running Club meets after school on Mondays and Fridays to prepare for the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. This week, Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, and Second graders kicked off the excitement by racing around the drive-through in front of the school, followed by 3rd-12th graders taking their turn.
Students had the chance to participate in either of the two races, making it a day filled with energy and enthusiasm. Organized by Mrs. Jamie Dearing, the Wildcats enjoyed a fantastic day celebrating their athletic spirit.
The entire staff came together to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants. Teachers and their classes were stationed along the 5K route, guiding runners and helping them stay on track. This collaborative effort ensured that students knew where to go and felt supported throughout the event. The dedication of the staff truly highlighted the strong sense of community at the school, making the day a memorable one for all involved.
After the races, the Wildcat runners were treated to a delicious reward of pancakes and sausage. This mid-morning breakfast was prepared by High School Principal Bryan Shoaf, Coach Drew Miller, and Coach Bill Burcham.
With everyone pitching in to serve, the team included Elementary Principal Shannon Shoaf, Library Aide Leslie Girton, Para Paige Dearing, Math teacher Mr. Kauk, and many others, ensuring that the line moved quickly and efficiently. The breakfast was a perfect way to celebrate the runners' hard work.
This year, the Arnett Wildcats are partnering with Thomas-Fay-Custer for golf. This week, the team participated in their first tournament of the season at Rock Creek Golf Course during the Speer's Pirates Fall Classic. Senior Harley Shoaf placed 6th individually, while the team finished in a commendable 5th place overall.
