Arnett Public Schools honored local veterans with a moving Veterans Day program, bringing together students, staff, and community members to recognize the service and sacrifices of their local heroes. The program began with a processional by the Arnett FFA Chapter, followed by a welcome from the Arnett Speech Team, who also gave closing remarks.
The audience joined together to sing the national anthem, and Pre-K through 6th-grade students performed songs dedicated to the veterans. The Arnett Beta Club presented a touching video focused on the theme of sacrifice, honoring the dedication and commitment of those who have served.
In addition, Eli Coykendall, assisted by Randy and Troy Burton, Derrick Girton, Erin Jones, Bristen Robertson, Adante Smith, and Sabe Williams, directed another video featuring the personal stories of local veterans. This video gave attendees an opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from veterans, creating a powerful connection between students and those honored.
As a highlight of the program, veterans stood at the front of the auditorium to introduce themselves, giving students a chance to personally recognize each veteran’s service. Directed by Nicki Broyles and accompanied by pianist Eli Coykendall, the program left a meaningful impression on all in attendance.
Students and staff at Arnett Elementary proudly wore blue in recognition of Type 1 Diabetes Day, held each year on November 14. This year’s event was especially meaningful, as the school community gathered to honor one of their own: Sutton Whitson, a brave pre-kindergarten student who lives with Type 1 diabetes.
The school-wide show of support brought awareness to Type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune condition that requires daily monitoring and management. Sutton’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support, saying it makes a positive difference to see the community rally around Sutton and others with Type 1 diabetes.
This past Sunday, members of the Arnett Beta Club joined forces with the Arnett Chamber of Commerce to bring holiday cheer to the town square. The students volunteered to help put up Christmas lights and festive decorations on the courthouse lawn, working together to create a joyful scene for the community.
The weather was perfect for the occasion, making it an enjoyable day for all involved. Their efforts added a warm, inviting glow to the town square, spreading holiday spirit and bringing smiles to passersby. The Arnett Chamber of Commerce expressed appreciation for the Beta Club’s support, and the lights will continue to shine throughout the holiday season.
