Arnett School Staff Engage in Comprehensive Professional Development Session

On December 2, 2024, teachers and staff at Arnett School participated in a morning of professional development designed to enhance their knowledge and skills while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

The day's schedule included a training session on Title IX, ensuring all staff members are well-versed in the laws and policies that protect students and employees from discrimination based on sex in educational settings. This essential training reinforced the school’s commitment to creating a safe and equitable learning environment for everyone.

In addition to the Title IX training, staff members had the opportunity to meet with the administration for updates, discussions, and strategic planning. These meetings facilitated open communication, allowing educators and administrators to align their goals for the school year.

The morning concluded with a delicious lunch from Gustos for all attendees. The meal was a welcome gesture, allowing staff to relax and connect with colleagues in an informal setting, further strengthening the sense of community within the school.

The professional development day not only equipped Arnett School's team with valuable knowledge and tools but also underscored the importance of collaboration and mutual support in fostering a thriving educational environment.

Mrs. Ham’s 4th grade science class made edible physical maps last week.  They used graham crackers, frosting, and chocolate chips to represent different landforms.  After building their landforms on their plate, they had to draw a map matching their creation and have a map key helping identify what they had built.

6th Grade Coffee Cats Brew Kindness for a Cause

The 6th-grade "Coffee Cats" have been brewing up more than just warm cups of coffee and hot chocolate—they're warming hearts as well! This dedicated group of students has been running a small café, selling their delicious beverages to fellow students, staff, and community members. The money they’ve raised is going to a heartwarming cause: purchasing Angel Tree gifts for children in need.

The Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts for kids who might otherwise go without, and the Coffee Cats are excited to contribute. Their efforts demonstrate not only entrepreneurial skills but also a commitment to giving back to their community.

“This project teaches us about teamwork and how we can make a difference,” said one student. “It feels really good knowing we’re helping kids have a special Christmas.”

The Coffee Cats are proof that even small acts of kindness—like selling a hot cup of cocoa on a chilly morning—can lead to something big. Their generosity is a testament to the power of young people working together for good.

Keep an eye on this group—they’re serving up more than coffee; they’re serving up hope and holiday cheer!
