Arnett Alumni Brings Holiday Cheer to Airmen

This holiday season, Arnett students had the opportunity to spread joy to service members far from home, thanks to an initiative by Carmen Alcoverde, a former graduate of Arnett and now a proud Air Force Sergeant. Carmen reached out to the school, asking if students could write heartfelt holiday letters to Airmen who would be unable to spend the holidays with their families.

The students eagerly participated, crafting thoughtful messages and holiday greetings. Over Thanksgiving, Carmen received the letters and distributed them among her fellow Airmen. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing deep gratitude and sharing how the letters brought warmth and love from Arnett, Oklahoma, to their hearts. This touching exchange highlights the enduring bond between Arnett School and its alumni and showcases the power of community spirit in making a difference—even from miles away.

The Grinch Spreads Holiday Cheer at Arnett Elementary

In a heartwarming annual tradition, the Grinch paid a visit to Arnett Elementary School, delighting students with his mischievous antics and larger-than-life personality. Dressed in his iconic green fur and Santa suit, the Grinch roamed the hallways, stopping by every classroom to interact with the kids.

While the Grinch is famous for his grumpy demeanor, his visit brought laughter and excitement to the students and staff alike. Joining him this year was Cindy Lou Who, whose cheerful presence added a sweet contrast to the Grinch's playful mischief. Together, they created unforgettable moments, from storytelling sessions to silly antics that had everyone smiling.

This cherished tradition continues to bring joy to the school community, reminding everyone of the importance of kindness, laughter, and holiday spirit. As the Grinch might say, “Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!”

Arnett's 5th and 6th-grade students showcased their knowledge and teamwork at the OJABA (Oklahoma Junior Academic Bowl Association) District Seeding Tournament hosted in Arnett. This event, which determines seedings for the upcoming Regional Bowl, brought together teams from several schools for a day of competitive problem-solving and learning.

Representing Arnett were Raylie Latta, Lexi Gaisford, Norah Bryant, Crew Watson, Ryder Williams, and Landon McCartor. The team displayed remarkable effort and determination throughout the competition.  Arnett started strong with a victory over Fargo-Gage, demonstrating their preparation and quick thinking. However, despite their best efforts, they faced tough competition, falling to both Balko and Canton.

The team’s participation at the District Academic Bowl marks an important step in their academic journey, providing valuable experience and setting the stage for continued growth in the Regional Bowl. Congratulations to the team for representing Arnett with dedication and skill!  All four teams will compete in the Regional Tournament at Vici on January 25th.
