Wildcat News for January 15, 2025
Teachers and staff returned to school on Monday, January 6, 2025, for a half day of professional development. The day began with a District Meeting, where administrators outlined key activities and events planned for the month of January. This monthly gathering served as an opportunity to align goals and share updates across the district.
Following the meeting, teachers dedicated time to their classrooms, preparing for the arrival of students and the start of the second semester. Tasks included organizing lesson plans, updating classroom materials, and ensuring a welcoming environment for students to continue their academic journey.
The professional development session and classroom preparation set a positive tone for the remainder of the school year, ensuring teachers and staff are equipped to provide engaging and effective instruction in the months ahead.

DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

On January 7, 2025, the Wildcats opened the second semester of basketball by traveling to Canute. The Class B 6th ranked Lady Wildcats had a hot start in the first quarter with an 8 point lead but went into halftime behind by 2. In the second half, the Class A 6th ranked Canute Lady Trojens pulled away to a 58-46 win over the Lady Wildcats. In the boy’s game, the Wildcats had an 11 point lead at halftime, 34-23, but Canute came on strong in the second half and came away with a one point win.
Next up for the Wildcats was the Oil Center Classic Tournament in Woodward. The boy’s team opened the tournament with a convincing 57-24 win over the Beaver Dusters. The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to play Goodwell in the first round but due to weather conditions, Goodwill was forced to forfeit the game allowing the Lady Wildcats to move on to the second round. Friday’s games were moved to Saturday; look for results of the tournament in next week’s paper.
Nicolas Sant’Anna easily wins the tip off in basketball action against Beaver.
The next home game for the High School teams is Friday, January 17, 2025. They will host Tyrone for Homecoming. After a full week of homecoming activities, the Beta Club will host the Snowball Dance and Winter Ball on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Last year it was a huge success, so everyone should plan on getting dressed up and dancing the night away!
