This past week was packed with events and activities for students across multiple grade levels. From sports to science, Arnett students showcased their talents in both academics and athletics this week.
A group of 38 students and four sponsors attended the FCA Game Day in Norman, where they watched the University of Oklahoma take on Vanderbilt. OU secured a victory in an exciting game. After the match, the students and sponsors attended a rally where they listened to student-athletes share their testimonies, providing inspiration and encouragement for all in attendance.
Levi Starkey and Katie Girton represented Arnett in the All Area Honor Band on January 24-25. Levi played the alto saxophone in the junior high band and Katie played the flute in the high school band. Both bands practiced for two days at Hennessey High School with guest conductors and then performed a concert that Saturday afternoon. All Area Honor Bands consist of students from twenty one Northwest Oklahoma public schools.

The final basketball games of the season took place for 5th and 6th grade, as well as Junior High, against Leedey. The teams displayed great effort and teamwork as they wrapped up their seasons with competitive matchups. Unfortunately, both 5/6th and JH teams lost.
Students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade science classes have been busy working with their new hydroponics system. They have started planting a variety of flowers and vegetables, engaging in a hands-on learning experience that teaches them about plant growth and sustainability.
The Ellis County Livestock Show saw great participation from our students, with 23 students showcasing their livestock projects. Their hard work and dedication were on display as they presented their animals and demonstrated their knowledge and skills in livestock care.
The Arnett Wildcats hosted the Shattuck Indians for a pair of high-energy basketball matchups. The Lady Wildcats secured a victory in front of their home crowd, while the boys’ team fought hard but fell short by six points. The night also featured a special senior night ceremony, honoring the school's senior basketball players and cheerleaders for their dedication and contributions to Wildcat athletics.
The Arnett 8th, 9th and 10th graders attended the Regional Science Fair at NWOSU in Alva on Thursday. The Wildcats represented well bringing home several metals, a special award and two state qualifying projects.

On Friday, February 7th, five students participated in the Anatomage Tournament at SWOSU in Weatherford. This competition allowed students to engage in hands-on anatomical learning, testing their knowledge and skills in a challenging and educational environment. In addition to getting hands-on experience with state of the art virtual cadaver tables, they toured the Pharmacy Department and even made their own scented hand sanitizer.

Friday our High school boys basketball team traveled to Vici for the 270 conference games. They took on the Buffalo Bison for the consolation championship. The Wildcats took the win, 48-42.
Saturday two of our speech students, Landree Parsons and Breclyn Suthers, traveled to Cherokee for a speech tournament Saturday. They did a great job and brought home 2nd place with their humorous duet.

Also on Saturday our High School girls traveled to Vici for the 270 conference championships. They took on the Mooreland Lady Bearcats. Our girls fought to the end and pulled out the win, 39-31. During the game, Landry Bayless earned her 1,500th career point during the game.

This week's Farmer's and Merchant's Bank "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to Martin Sanchez. Martin was nominated by the teacher's and they had this to say about him: "Martin has shown great growth as a student and a young man. His contributions to wildcat athletics have been incredibly positive. His efforts in the classroom are solid. He is a good sport when it comes to class spirit, and he is more than willing to help out whenever asked. Super proud of this Junior!" The Seniors were happy to present him with his certificate. Congratulations, Martin!
