4th Graders dissecting flowers

This week here at Arnett Public Schools has been packed with events and fun activities.  The students have been working very hard and have been very determined all week.  Through all the craziness the students have kept their focus and been working very hard.
Arnett FFA was no stranger to success in this year’s 2025, Woodward District Livestock show. Last week everyone saw how amazing our Ag Mechanics group did. Our livestock exhibitors did just as well. On Sunday, the Woodward District barrow livestock show started.  The Arnett showteam had a very successful day.  Some of the students made the sale, and several were alternates.  Several of the livestock showers were placed during the barrow show.

Monday, the Woodward District Gilt Livestock Show was held.  Even though that Arnett showteam did not have as many showers they still had a very successful day, and some of them made it into the sale.  On the swine side of things the Arnett show team did very well. Trenten Haney received reserve breed Champion with his Dark Cross gilt, Brooklyn Vincent received fifth place Dark Cross gilt, and Tinsley Johnston received grand and reserve Chester breed champion.

This past Tuesday, Arnett Public Schools was closed due to hazardous road conditions.  Also on Tuesday, the goat show took place in Woodward.  All the kids worked very hard and were successful.  Some made the sale and others placed very well.  Also on Tuesday, the sheep show took place.  All of our kids did well and worked very hard showing and getting their animals ready in both categories. Tuesday, exhibitor Madison Haney received division champion and third overall with her goat. Also on Tuesday, Raylie Latta, Riah Latta, and Jozie Latta all participated in the competition, “Make it with Wool”.  They all received the champion title in the respective divisions and worked very hard to make their outfits.

We also had several participate in this year’s social media team. John Campbell worked the Barrow show on Sunday, Eli Coykendall worked the Gilt show on Monday, and Breclyn Suthers will work the Steer and Heifer show the following Monday.

Arnett Public Schools was closed again Wednesday due to road conditions and freezing cold temperatures.  The Goat show was moved to Tuesday because of the weather so there was no show today.

On Thursday, the Arnett high school basketball teams were supposed to be playing against the Frontier Mustangs, but due to the bad weather the game was pushed to Friday.

This past Friday, the Arnett Lady Wildcats opened up the regionals basketball tournament against the Frontier Lady mustangs. The score was 60-50 in favor of the Lady Wildcats.  The girls will next play Monday for a regionals title.  This Friday, the Arnett Wildcats also opened up the regional basketball tournament against the Frontier Mustangs.  The score was 63-46.  The Wildcats put up a good fight but are looking to continue their season with a few more wins.  Both teams played very well.

Saturday, the Wildcats returned to play against Kremlin-Hillsdale to keep their season alive.  They pulled out a 70-40 win and advanced to the consolation championship for a spot in the Area Basketball Tournament.  The consolation championship and the championship games will occur Monday, February 24th in Arnett.  The winner and the runner up in the championship game will both advance to Area.  The consolation champion will also advance.

Also this week,  the fourth graders have been learning about internal and external plant structures.  In the process of learning about the plant structures they dissected a bouquet of flowers to look at the different plant structures.  The fourth graders also put celery into food coloring to see how the xylem and phloem move materials throughout the plant.
