Students across the district embraced the joy of reading last week as they participated in Read Across America Week, dressing up each day in fun and creative outfits to celebrate literature. The event, inspired by Dr. Seuss’s birthday, encouraged students to develop a love for reading through themed activities and special events.

On Wednesday morning, the school kicked off the day with Breakfast with Buddies, where students gathered in groups to enjoy donuts and read books aloud together. The event fostered a love for reading and a sense of community among students, teachers, and families.

Toy's groupIn addition to literary celebrations, the baseball team officially kicked off its spring season on Monday with an impressive performance on the field. The team dominated their season opener against Cimarron, securing a commanding 22-1 victory. Their offense was unstoppable, and the defense kept their opponents at bay, setting a strong tone for the season ahead.

Following their big win, the team faced Medford in a much tighter game. Despite a hard-fought battle, they fell just short in a 10-11 loss. The game was a test of resilience, and the team is looking forward to using the experience to fuel future success.

The Lady Wildcats basketball team made a thrilling run in the State Tournament last week, competing at the Big House in OKC. They faced Smithville in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night at 9 p.m., dominating the game with a 54-24 victory.
Wildcat FansTheir momentum carried into Friday afternoon’s semifinal matchup in Yukon against Chattanooga. The game was a nail-biter from start to finish, with both teams battling for the win. After an intense overtime period, the Lady Wildcats emerged victorious, 46-43, securing their spot in the State Championship game.

On Saturday morning, the Lady Wildcats faced the Hammon Warriors in the finals at 10 a.m.. At halftime, the Wildcats trailed by just one point in what was shaping up to be a fiercely competitive game. However, despite their determination and effort, tough calls and a strong Hammon performance led to a 59-33 loss. While it wasn’t the ending they hoped for, the Lady Wildcats finished as State Runners-Up, an incredible accomplishment that showcased their talent and resilience! We are so proud of you and your accomplishments this year!

This week's Farmer's and Merchant's Bank "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to, Ross Royal. Mr. Royal's co-workers had this to say about him: "Mr. Royal is the epitome of what Banking on a Wildcat stands for, and as a teacher, coach, sponsor, and mentor, he is an eminent presence at Arnett Public Schools. Mr. Royal is our hype guy. His positivity encourages students and staff alike. When others see a mountain blocking the way, Mr. Royal sees a fun challenge to get others involved in and to figure out a solution to overcome. His willingness to be a team player and to help others is appreciated by so many. There is no doubt that Arnett Schools has seen certain successes due to Mr. Royal's hard work, unwavering school spirit, and genuine care for our staff and student body." Congrats, Coach R!
