Wildcat News for week of January 16, 2023
Over the Christmas break the Arnett Show Team was super busy! At the New Year’s Eve National Goat Show in Woodward Madison Haney was busy exhibiting her goats and doing a wonderful job. On January 1-2 several students participated in the Stickin’ To Normal Pig Show in Fairview. Then on January 7-8 many of the exhibitors took their pigs to Woodward for the Seth Rutledge Show and the Winter Classic. During the Seth Rutledge Show Arnett students showed 42 head, placing 35 of them throughout the day. Great job to all exhibitors!!
The local spelling bee was held Tuesday, January 10. The top 3 spellers from 3-5th grade competed for the Jr. Champion, and the top 3 spellers from grades 6-8th grade competed for Sr. Champion. The winners will now compete at the County Bee in Shattuck.
On Wednesday, January 11, the elementary teachers had training on the new writing program being used this year, ECAW, Every Child a Writer. We are very excited about the progress we are seeing in our students with their writing. Trainer Christie Clare came for the day and spent time with each teacher during writing time. She was able to observe and give valuable feedback. It was very informative for all teachers.
Arnett School is asking for your support on February 14. There will be voting for a transportation bond for the school. It is for $550,000 which will be used to purchase an activity bus, a route bus, and an ag farm truck. Currently the 2010 activity bus has 77,000 miles and electrical issues; the 2016 ag truck has 200,000 miles on it; and a larger route bus is needed to replace the small bus we have now. The bond would be paid off over a period of 5 years. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Superintendent Scot Friesen.
This shows the impact the bond issue would have on your taxes over the next 5 years.
