Arnett teachers and staff would like to extend a very big Thank You to the Arnett S.W.A.T team for the baskets of coffee, hot chocolate, flavored creamers, and apple cider. They also provided homemade cinnamon rolls, which were amazing. There's not a much better way to a teacher's heart than coffee and sweets!

Due to the uncertainty of the power outage being restored, Arnett Schools will not have school today, August 14. This will be a "virtual" day so do something educational and we will see you tomorrow.

Due to no electricity, Arnett Schools will have a delayed start until 10 a.m. today, August 14.

Arnett teachers and staff are ready for a great school year!

Arnett teachers and staff have been participating in professional development over the past three days as they get ready for students to arrive tomorrow. A big thank you goes out to the Arnett Church of Christ for providing breakfast on Monday, the United Methodist Church for lunch on Wednesday, local businesses for the donations and teacher coupons, and Gerry Brooks for the amazing keynote address over Creating Positive Personal Climate & Culture in the Workplace.

Next up is a familiar face to Arnett Schools, Coach Allen Tune. Allen graduated high school from Ft. Supply, and he graduated college from SWOSU. He has been married to Amy for 18 years. They have 5 kids: Ky, Tyler, Alexis, Alyssa and Allie. Allie will be a sophomore at Arnett this year. Allen & Amy have 6 grandkids: Grant, Leddy, Lincoln, Callen, Cora, and Banks. Allen will be coaching JH and HS girls basketball and teaching middle school science and shop. He has been in education since 1998 and coached boys basketball here at Arnett from 2010-2014. What Coach Tune enjoys most about the education & coaching profession is being around the kids and seeing them succeed with hard work and dedication. He tries to teach them no matter what they are doing to always give it their all.

Denise Kibbe is the new HS Custodian at Arnett Schools. She will also be driving a daily bus route. Denise graduated from Arnett with the Class of 1992. Her two children, Josh & Jacklyn, graduated from AHS as well. Denise has three grandkids: Kian, Breck, and Coah, with two more on the way. Denise has always been a hard worker. She worked in the oilfield for 11 years, doing everything from hauling crude oil and salt water to helping build locations. For the past 3.5 years, Denise has worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. She is looking forward to getting to know the school kids again, having a similar schedule to her grandkids, and being out of the extreme outdoor elements on a regular basis.

We are resuming our new staff spotlight today. First up for today is Melanie McCracken. Melanie is a 1993 graduate of Vici High School. She has been married to her husband, Shannon, for 28 years this September. They have two sons, Colton and Chase, as well as two daughters, Cayce and Cadie. Cadie will be a Junior at Arnett this year. Melanie obtained her Bachelor of Science from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education in 1996. She returned to the classroom last year at Vici teaching 7th and 8th grade Reading/ ELA, Library, Senior Class Sponsor, and tutored a fourth-grade student. This year at Arnett, Mrs. McCracken will be teaching Art, Home Economics, Yearbook, Library, and 4th Grade Social Studies. Our second spotlight of the day is Brett Williams. Brett is taking over the Packsaddle suburban route this year. She will transport students to and from school each morning & afternoon and substitute teach when needed as well.
Brett grew up in Bridge Creek, OK, graduating high school from there in 2004. She went on to MACU on a basketball scholarship, and then transferred to NWOSU and graduated with an Agricultural Business degree with a minor in Animal Science.
Brett married 2003 Arnett graduate, Clint Williams, in 2006, and they moved to the family farm in 2007 where they are raising their 3 boys: Sabe, Ryder, and Tyke. Brett is looking forward to spending time with her route kids & all Arnett students and learning more about them.

Today's new staff spotlight begins with Chris Johnston. Chris is the new Ag teacher at Arnett Schools. This is his 8th year in the Ag-Ed classroom. Chris attended high school in Fort Supply, Oklahoma, and graduated college from OPSU. Chris and his wife, Torrie, have three children: Tinsley, Kreason, and Kutter. Chris enjoys spending time together as a family in the barn or at stock shows. Chris & Torrie own and operate a showpig operation that has about 25 head of sows. One of the things that Chris most enjoys about working with kids is seeing them reach the goal that they have set for themselves and watching them achieve at a high level.

Our next introduction is Kelsi Stevens. Kelsi is the new High School Secretary at Arnett Schools. Kelsi was born and raised in Elk City. She attended college at NWOSU where she played college golf and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Kelsi then served 6 years in the Oklahoma Air National Guard before moving to Arnett. Kelsi is married to Kyle Stevens, AHS alum and the voice of A-Town TV Basketball. They have been married for almost two years and their baby boy, Miles, was born in April. Kelsi is looking forward to getting to know all the wonderful students and staff at APS!

The first day of school is right around the corner so over the next few days we are going to be introducing our new staff members at Arnett Schools.
First up is Kaleb McDonald. Kaleb was born and raised in Beaver, Oklahoma. Kaleb comes from a family of educators with his mom being a music teacher, and his older and younger brothers being educators/coaches as well. After graduating high school, Kaleb attended SWOSU where he graduated with a degree in Parks and Wildlife Law Enforcement. He then accepted a job with the Ellis County Sheriff's Department, which brought him to Arnett. He has been living in Arnett for the past six years and loves being involved with the community. The best part of moving to Northwestern Oklahoma was meeting his wife, Lynanne, who is also a teacher, and putting down roots here together. Kaleb is excited to start this new chapter in life as an educator. He will be teaching Technology Education and serving as the school’s resource officer. He is looking forward to making new friends, building relationships, and getting the opportunity to work with students to build a better future.
