Band Field Trip to NWOSU
We are going on a field trip this Friday to NWOSU in Alva to spend the day with their band! Students will have the opportunity to meet with NWOSU band students and faculty that play their same instruments, as well as listen to performances and watch the college band’s marching halftime show. We will leave at 8:00 a.m. and return between 5:30-6:00 p.m.
Lunch will be paid for by the school, but it would be appreciated if students could bring $1 for a tip. Students may also bring money to stop at a quick stop on the way home. This is an amazing opportunity for our band students to learn more about their instruments and to receive feedback on how to improve their performance. I am very excited that NWOSU’s instrumental faculty has worked with me in getting this planned for our students. I am looking forward to seeing what our students gain from this experience.

This week's Farmer's and Merchant's Bank "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to Bristen Robertson. Her teacher's had this to say about her: Bristen is an exceptionally intelligent and talented individual; however, she does not force her brilliance upon anyone. She quietly constructs her masterpieces, whether that be an essay, origami, scratch art, or digital design. Bristen very rarely has the first word because she is willing to let others speak first; however, she does sometimes get the last word, which can be very powerful. The ideas and thoughts that form in her intuitive mind can leave a class feeling thoughtful and introspective. Bristen greets teachers with a small, pleasant smile each day and is dedicated to turning in nothing less than her best work. Bristen is kind, has a fun sense of humor, and possesses some legit dance moves. The world needs more people like Bristen. Congratulations, Bristen!

Her teacher's had this to say about her: "She always has a book in her hand or backpack, and she is always encouraging others. Toy is also willing to help someone else, even if that means sharing part of her story or struggle. A Solar Eclipse is coming!!!!!!

Any student and their family who wants to view the eclipse safely is welcome to come to the school on Saturday. We have purchased eclipse glasses that you may borrow. We are not sending them home with students because another eclipse is coming in April of 2024.
Solar eclipses happen when the New Moon casts a shadow on Earth. The Moon's shadow is not big enough to engulf the entire planet, so the shadow is always limited to a certain area. The path of the eclipse does not cross OK but Arnett should see a partial eclipse of about 77%.
Carla Vicente, foreign exchange student from Spain, performed the Star Spangled Banner at the Arnett Rodeo on guitar. She learned to play the guitar with her father in 2020 during the Covid shut down period. Carla will be performing again at one of the Arnett High School games.
Arnett High School Academic Team traveled to Fort Supply today and competed in the District Tournament. They will compete in Regionals on November 11th! 🎉🖤💛

Our first week of our Farmer's and Merchant's "Banking on a Wildcat" goes to Hallie McCartor. She was voted on by the Faculty and Staff and they had this to say about her:
Hallie is a hard worker and always wants to do her best. She constantly asks what she can do to help. She wants to make her teachers' and her classmates' lives easier. She likes things neat and organized and is willing to help those in need. She has a compassionate heart and wants to better herself. If she sees trouble, she stays away from it. She encourages others. She is dependable. Yes, she is talented and intelligent as well, but it is her servant heart, her willingness to do what is right, and the way she adds good to this world. Congratulations, Hallie!
Students! This Wednesday the FCA will be taking a bus to the Fields of Faith even in Mooreland. This is for all students, grades 7-12. We will depart at 4 and arrive home around 9. This is a free event, so all you need to bring money for is food on the way there. Please get in contact with Mr. Royal or Mr. McDonald if you want to go. Go Cats!
Arnett Schools' parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday October 9 and Tuesday October 10 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. each day. The junior high and high school teachers will be in the cafeteria to meet with parents, and the elementary teachers will meet in their classrooms. We would like to encourage parents to make every effort to meet with their child's teacher. Research shows that the more parents and teachers share relevant information with each other about a student, the better equipped both will be to help that student achieve academically.

The PEP BUS will leave the school at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday to take our Wildcat fans to Shawnee to cheer on the Lady Wildcats as they compete for a state title. The bus will stop somewhere to eat and all riders must purchase their own game ticket online on the OSSAA website.
Students 5th grade and below must be accompanied by an adult.
